Melior believes that the ideal molecules to enter the theraTRACE® platform are mid- to late-stage clinical compounds previously discontinued for reasons other than safety. Such "privileged" and safe compounds may be relatively few in number, but are considered high-value assets. Given the significant investment already made in these drug candidates, an ideal repositioning platform should have very low error rates and would therefore not benefit from the high throughput potentially offered by in silico systems. These valuable compounds may only be evaluated optimally by using in vivo drug discovery approaches. For these reasons, Melior's theraTRACE® platform offers the most cost-effective strategy for screening a compound through a series of in vivo models. The platform offers a high quality, multiplexed tool with low error rates for detecting new indications. These are the same high quality in vivo models that are used to determine whether a candidate demonstrates sufficient efficacy to merit advancement into the clinic.
